The Thermo Scientific Indiko is an automated analyzer for clinical biochemistry and specialty testing. A compact, bench-top system, the Indiko is ideal for small to medium volume laboratories or as a back-up instrument for any laboratory. Thanks to randomized sample access, the system has a throughput of up to 350 photometric/turbidimetric tests per hour and 135 ISE tests/hour on the Indiko Plus ISE model.
Once charged, the system has a working time of up to 2 hours. By using Thermo Scientific reagents (CE marked based on IVDMDD 98/79/EC), the system offers clinicians the possibility to have accurate and reproducible results comparable between different laboratories. This makes it possible to optimise and standardise diagnosis and therapeutic treatment in accordance with the recommendations of international organisations (IFCC - International Federation for Clinical Chemistry, NGSP/DCCT - National Glycohaemoglobin Standardisation Programme/ Diabetes Control and Complications Trial and NKDEP - National Kidney Disease Education Programme).
Measuring principle: the system performs colorimetric and turbidimetric end-point or kinetic reactions, mono- or bi-chromatic tests, with or without blank. Optionally the analyser can also have ISE mode with ion selective electrodes: Na+, K+ and Cl-.
Capacity: Depending on load and test methods up to 350 photometric tests/hour. In the model with ISE + 135 ISE tests/hour.
ISE unit (optional): Uses indirect method of measurement for Na+, K+, Cl-. Electrodes are delivered ready to use and maintenance free.
TENCELL cuvettes: are small sized cuvettes suitable for final reaction volumes between 120-300µl. With these cuvettes different analyses of the same sample can be performed simultaneously, i.e. different sample specimens can be analysed simultaneously. Disposable cuvettes eliminate the need for washing and prevent contamination. Their use reduces reagent consumption (and thus the cost per analysis) and reduces waste disposal costs.
Cuvette loader: can be loaded with 36 cuvettes, each cuvette has 10 reaction cells. Maximum loading capacity is 360 reaction cells. The loading of cuvettes can be done continuously without interrupting work.
Incubator: loads a maximum of 90 reaction cells. The incubation unit is kept at 370 degrees C.
Samples: 54-position sample rotor on 6 sample stands with 9 positions each. The following sample types can be used: serum, plasma, urine and CSF. Access to the samples is continuous and sample identification is automatic via the integrated barcode reader. The sample volume used is 2-120µl. Sample cups (0.5ml and 2ml) or primary tubes (diameter: 12-16mm, length 75-100mm) are used as sample containers. Samples can be processed by accessing an assay profile or by individual assay selection.
Reagents: Reagent rotor with 42 positions, cooled to approx. 80 C. Reagent access is continuous. Reagent identification via integrated reader. Reagent management is done by instant display of reagent volume, number of tests remaining, batch and expiry date of kits.
Reagent volume: 2-240 µl. 10ml and 20ml vials are used as reagent containers.
Calibration: versatile, with the following types of calibration possible: factor, bias, linear, logit-log, spline, polynomial and point-to-point. Depending on the method used, calibration can be done automatically based on individual calibrators or serial dilutions of a single calibrator can be done. Comparison with the previous calibration curve is possible.
Quality control: the analyser has a QC program with multiple user-defined Westgard rules (up to 6 controls per analysis). The frequency of control is user-defined. Daily or cumulative reports can be printed. Invalid checks are flagged.
Results management: is done through a program with an intuitive graphical user interface, accessed via touch screen. Patient identification can be done via keyboard, touch screen, mouse or barcode. It offers the possibility to have certain user rights for each user group. There are various options for reporting results as well as for managing and archiving them.
Dilutions: the following operations are possible: automatic pre-dilution of samples, automatic dilution of concentrated samples, addition of the values obtained for manual pre-dilutions necessary for the calculation of results.
